The crescent-shaped residential building is part of an ambitious restructuring and development plan for the area around the port of Savona, which includes office and residential buildings, as well as retail and leisure facilities. The challenge here was to regenerate the area and create a new city centre integrating within a coherent and organic plan the old port and the city.
The building centred on the dock area with a privileged view over a small tourist port is one of the major pieces of this urban plan. The symmetry and rigorous classical vocabulary that define the form of the building are fundamental to the general visual balance and contribute to the organization of the disjointed existing context.
The building is made of stone, stucco and glass and offers generous loggias with double orientation over the sea and the inner harbour.
By creating a dynamic new waterfront community this development has contributed to the animation of this urban quarter while carefully preserving the city’s historic character.
