Ricardo Bofill designs the new headquarters for Desigual, the Catalan fashion brand.

17/01/2011
Ricardo Bofill designs the new headquarters for Desigual, the Catalan fashion brand.

The new headquarters for Desigual will be built next to the W Barcelona hotel, a glass office building facing the Mediterranean Sea.

The building is conceived as an urban morphology inspired by the Barceloneta area, with narrow streets that lead into a shady interior plaza.

The triangular shaped ground floor connects with the lines of both the Paseo de Borbon and the Paseo Maritimo starting at the Forum, and the Rosa dels Vents square on the West, a green and mineral plaza that emerges to confront the sea horizon, a spectacular contribution by Bofill to the new Barcelona urban design.

Desigual 120 people design team will move to the new quarters. They will share the space with the rest of the company’s departments.

With a staff of over 2,000, this year Desigual plans to increase the number of stores in the world to 180.

The 11,000 sqm project will be completed in 2012.
